Someday I want to half of the talent that is in your little finger. I like this effort alot but something tells me this project came very naturally to you. I think your artistic career is just beginning. Your altitude is unlimited. Reach for it. Good luck friend.

Oh man! I wish I had half the creative talent that you do! I would love something like that in the future *coughhintcough* ;) I'm sorry I couldn't make it down this weekend. my brain is full of chemical classifications and pyrexia and bioterrorism. blah. I miss you. :(

Oh mi gosh, incredible. Excellent, and everything Mark said.

I would love to see a blog on the process...er with photos. Just because I am so impressed and want to see how the heck you did this. I use to love doing the starch and tissue paper collages in school.

How long did it take you, start to finish. What was your inspiration? Wow, incredible.

Thanks for all the compliments, my friends.

Cele asked what my inspiration was...an online friend gave an assignment to me and a bunch of friends to create anything using simply ripped magazine page pieces (no scissors allowed was very hard for me, especially on the eyes). I love Audrey Hepburn (I love doing faces and portraits and people the most) and so chose to do this image, which I found on the internet. I laid the printout of her face on the table and started ripping the background pieces first, trying to rip pieces to fit like puzzles. It wasn't until I was on the face and hair that it occurred to me that I could actually layer the pieces if I wanted, and that really freed me up to go faster. Heh. Eventually I hung the reference photo on the window, then I taped my blank page over it, and started gluing the pieces on using a glue stick.

It took about 17 total hours (thank goodness for rained out softball games, or I'd have never finished in time. We were given a week to produce something. I'll frame and hang this one in my home. It was so fun to create.

:) I didn't take pictures of my process, but if I do another, I'll try to remember to do that.

that is truly stunning--and just cool. I hope you'll do another collage soon (next time you've got 17 spare hours).

It's effing awesome (spoken like a true art critic)! Seriously, that is amazing. I would like to commission you to do a portrait if me, using cereal boxes. I'm only half-kidding ... I know you would do an incredible job on that, too.

And yeah, happy belated birthday. Sorry I missed it!
